James Duncan has been working both in interior and industrial design for the past twenty years and has developed over 250 designs sold to the trade around the world. James Duncan Inc. was named to Luxe Magazines Gold list in 2021 and 2020 of top interior design firms. James Duncan is a recipient of a 2017 Architectural Digest “Great Design Award” for New Ravenna’s Indus stone and bronze mosaic design. Their work is also featured in Elle Décor, Interior Design Magazine, Architectural Digest, Interiors, House Beautiful, House and Garden, Avenue Magazine, New York Spaces, Domino, New York Times. Their interior designs have also appeared twice on covers of Luxe Magazine.

Born in New York, educated and shaped by experiences across the world, James’ eclectic background influences his work today. Vancouver, Paris, Sotogrande, Jamaica, Manhattan, Sri Lanka, Italy, and Africa helped him to develop his aesthetic vision. From studying journalism, and then art, as well as starting as an investment banker, James’ strongest influences are undoubtedly his academic parents. With his passion for art, literature, and design, a career that married creativity, arts, and business seems an inevitability. James Duncan is a cofounder and principal designer.
Born in New York, raised and educated around the world, James’ eclectic background influences his work today. Vancouver, Paris, Sotogrande, Jamaica, Manhattan, Sri Lanka, Italy, and Africa all have a part to play. From studying journalism, and then art, as well as starting as an investment banker, his strongest influences are undoubtedly his academic parents. Passionate renovators and art collectors, they showed James the world through the lens of scholarship and design. Entrepreneur with deep expertise in real estate, asset repositioning, and business planning. A member of YPO, Miami Chapter, Harvard Alumni (OPM 56), and a business administration graduate from the University of Buenos Aires.
